Meet other fans of Lesbian Literature here in Seattle. Chat about books while meeting fellow queer ladies who like to read and socialize. You can jump in and join anytime! The meetings are structured to discuss the books and get to know each other. We start with introductions, something we thought about the book (longer than a sentence, shorter than a page), then we launch into discussion. We discuss the book for about an hour and a half. Then we end with our names again, last thoughts on th …
As most people know, people with English degrees* (writing, literature, undergrad, grad, even English minors), rarely are employed in our chosen field of awesome words and sentences. This creates some serious English-class withdraw, leading to awkward social situations when we reference obscure or archaic works of literature or theory, or try to analyze something to an absurd degree. "People with English Degrees, Reading Books" is an attempt to remedy this by providing an outlet for the English …
Hi, My name is Barbara Nelson and a former English and Art Teacher transplanted from Minneapolis,Minnesota and very interested in all literature and especially classic literature. I am looking to meet new people (women and men--50 and older), who love to read and get together once a month to have some great discussions, conversations and laughter.
Every month we read the best book as chosen by our members. We then meet and discuss them. If the book we chose has been made in to a movie or a play, then we might schedule an additional meetup event. If you are fond of reading and would enjoy discussing books like Three Cups of Tea, The Help, and The Art of Racing in the Rain, we would love to have you as a member of our group.
The Fairy Tale Factory is a writing group dedicated to writing and reading fairy tales. Our writing focus will tickle your deep creativity and give your storytelling muscles a satisfying workout. Our reading focus is on the old, wild fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, the Italian folktales that Italo Calvino collected, and any pre-Disney tale that might make you stop and consider before you read it to a child. Everyone is welcome. If you love fairy tales, you are perfectly suited to this group. …

I have been trying to find a group of parents who love and enjoy to read as much as my husband and I do. Sadly we do not have as much time to read as we use to but we still try to read as much as we can:) Now I read a lot of parenting books or books geared towards children and their interests. My hopes for this group is for us to have a kind of book club aspect in that we will read some similar books and meet at each others home for a session or local coffee shops to discuss them. I love hosting …
I am an avid reader and coffee drinker. I wanted to bring together friends and neighbors who were interested in reading and discussing books with me while enjoying a tasty cup of coffee. We read about one book a month and meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at Victrola Coffee & Art on 15th Avenue in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. We read a variety of fiction and non-fiction books on pretty much any topic. If you are interested in reading along with us, discussing the book, …
We are a group of dedicated classics readers who enjoy a book for the overall experience and don't take ourselves too seriously. In other words there are no English professor types. We really just want to read the books that are considered classics so we know what's going on and what they're all about. We look forward to meeting anyone and everyone who wants to take part in discussions of great books.
We are a group that is founded on the belief that books should be read for entertainment. We want to read and discuss upbeat, fantastic, quirky enjoyable books - not the latest downer tome handed down from Oprah. If you want to read funny, imaginative, quotable books and then rave about how they split your sides, fired you up, or give you weird dreams then this club is for you! Even if the books we end up reading aren't as fun and interesting as we hope - it's better to complain together over dr …
Hello and Welcome! Lets get together in homes and community spaces to get work done while getting to know one another. I'm thinking of blackberry harvesting, pickling, sewing/quilting, mending, holiday crafts, window washing, gardening, and painting. I'm also thinking of singing and games and potluck meals. You should join this group if you think a home is more than just a house that is ready for a Martha Stewart photo shoot. You should join this group if you want to work toward creating a world …
This is a monthly book club devoted to the mystery novel. Welcome to our book group! Meetup.com is an online social networking portal that facilitates offline group meetings. We take that seriously and hope that if and when you join our community, we get to meet you soon after. If our group were to have a mission statement, it would probably be along the lines of, "Dedicated to legitimizing the mystery novel as a form of literature...while at the same time indulging in our passion!" About u …
