Meet other women in the area that share an interest in reading all kinds of fascinating works of literature. Fiction or non-fiction, paperback or hardcover. We will read a new book every month. Come to laugh, share stories and make new friends! We believe new books and thoughts from our members will help keep the Ladies Loving Literature Book Club interesting, fresh and exciting for all. We will meet at a different location in the area every five weeks to talk about the book we've read and choos …
Enjoy reading brainy books? Classics of world literature? Philosophy? Something entertaining, yet intellectually stimulating? Do you actually CHOOSE to pick up novels by the likes of E.M. Forster, D.H. Lawrence, Emily Bronte, or maybe Toni Morrison? Does exploring philosophical classics (Plato's Symposium, maybe? Sartre? Hume?) actually appeal to you? If reading great literature with a friendly, laid-back, edgy intellectual crowd turns you on, then this is the meetup for you. We won't t …
The Great Books Reading Group is not a literature club. It is a discussion group that uses a multidisciplinary approach to learning and exploring the past and present. We are reading from the St. John's College Reading List. As we read foundational texts in the Western tradition, we examine mysticism, history, theology, the earth and physical sciences, mathematics, philosophy and government, as well as art, literature and music.

A small book club for 20-and-30-something ladies and female-identified people to meet once a month and discuss a work of literature--primari
ly fiction, maybe with an occasional work of nonfiction thrown in.
I started this book club for three reasons: 1) I miss discussing books after reading them, the way I used to in school, 2) I'd like to make more friends in Baltimore, and 3) Book clubs are best when they're small, and I just wasn't able to find a small one to join in Baltimore!

This is for all who want to reach out to socialize and dialog with people of different cultures and countries. It is also a group who explores the shared histories, cultures, arts, and literature between the two sides of the Atlantic. It is my hope that a meeting is like a small journey from our day-to-day world to another place, time and point of view. The DC area is a very internationally oriented community so I hope we can come together for a great time: discussions, happy hours, social event …

… I'm looking to collect a group of people for friendship who like to think about literature, science, politics, philosophy, and the arts, and to talk about them in a respectful and considerate environment. A little wine or coffee and something to go with it would make a perfect evening. Our structure: we have several "public place" MeetUps each month -- one "happy hour" or restaurant dinner, intended for informal chatting, which is particularly helpful in getting to know new members, and at leas …

Calling all Singles 40 & Up! Meet for wine (or beer), espresso and decadent desserts (or nachos) and engage with other singles in stimulating conversation on a wide range of topics ... politics, literature, the arts, philosophy, sports, your past travels and wish list ... Light weight chattering is OK. Heavy weight pontificating is cool, too. Anything and everything goes. Humor is a big plus. With all this gabbing goin' on, you just might meet (and be) "the one."

Escape Reality is a place where friends can come together for lively and meaningful discussion about books of all kinds while enjoying some good food, good wine, and great company! Meetings are two Sundays of each month at 5:00 pm. Members will be able to take turns suggesting readings. We believe that variety is the spice of life and that everyone should have a chance to break out of their comfort zones so we don't limit what we read to any particular genre or type of novel, we want to get a li …
This is just not another tiresome meetup book club that follows some predictable path well trod by about a million other meetup groups. First, we aim to energize your reading life by presenting a rich menu of unexpected offerings rather than a boring genre-specific diet. We will read delightful fables, profound novels about every aspect of the human condition, comedies, plays, thoughtful (but accessible) works of philosophy, as well as a variety of serious political, social and cultural med …

We will avoid mass fiction (like John Grisham, Janet Evanovich, Dan Brown, etc.) Come join us! [P.S.
