Bloomington's Public Library offers an awesome "Book Kit" where book clubs like this can check out 8-30 copies of any one novel at a time, for distribution and discussion. I especially like the idea of diversity in reading--as adults we often fall into a favorite type of material, but this could be a chance to really be exposed to literature we otherwise might not have read. This group intends to discuss not only feminism and all its components, but politics, religion, literature (including poetry), and music. I would like to extend this meetup, at some point, to spoken word and musical performances, too. But we'll start small. We are a diverse group of people who enjoy both books and movies. Our group is unique in that we will read a book (usually yet to be released to film) and then watch the movie together (generally the week it opens or week after) and after watching the film, get together for really great discussion on the book and the movie.
