25 Meetup Groups match “Literature” near Paradise Valley, AZ
This group is designed to gather together valley professionals for an active discussion on current and classic novels. My purpose in starting this group was to rekindle the college literature class discussions that I used to enjoy so much. We will focus on a discussion of theme, context, genre and substance of prose.
This is a group for men interested in serious gay literature: Edmund White, Marcel Proust, Andre Gide, that sort of thing. As the founder, I'm equally interested in literature about homosexuality as a theme or experience and in literature by homosexual men regardless of whether the work itself takes homosexuality as a focus.
We are a group of black women who love to read, want to read more and meet like minded women. Benjamin Franklin once quipped that a person should "Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing." Classics are considered such for a reason; they contain a literary currency that other works do not. This book club is your chance to sit down and finally read Anna Karenina, Don Quixote, Pride and Prejudice or somewhat forgotten classics and/or modern works of similar worth. The books can span any time period or place, and the reading list is always open to growth or suggest …

A great group of avant-garde women who want to read and talk about challenging literature - fictional and non-fictional. This is NOT your chic-lit group. We read classics like Rand, Lewis, and Twain. We read moderns like Friedman, Friedan, Robbins, and even Rowling. All for FUN. We're clever, raucous, valiant, and not afraid to use a dictionary!

However, the literature and group topics may be of interest to anyone trying to overcome emotional pain and/or anxiety. For the group purpose, I will define "young adults" as anyone 30 and under. However, if you are "above" the young adult criteri …

This is a group for people in Phoenix or nearby who are interested in making new friends interested in freewheeling but focused intellectual discussion. I've just moved back to Phoenix, and I would really like to make new friends with serious intellectual interests. My plan is to have a serious topic for each discussion and to focus our talk on rational exchange. Members should be BOTH interested in making new friends and in having their current ideas stretched and challenged. If you're a new ar …

The Dickens Chicks book club is all about ladies reading Classic Literature. We have spent the last year building our literary muscles, so it seems a natural extension of this would be to see if the movies are as good as the books. With that in mind, we are starting a supplemental group to our book club: Dickens Chicks at the Movies. We will continue to read the Classics on the last Sunday of each month, but in between those readings, we'll meet again to watch the movies that go along with these …

I love to read! But somehow my busy life just gets in my way. This book club is my little gift to myself. Lets pick a great book and commit to reading it every month and then get together to discuss! There's only one rule in this book club: NO DOWNERS!! I read for fun, not to be bummed out ;) Because this group is brand new, I'm still working a few things out: 1. I'm trying to get the use of the barn for the monthly meetup 2. If it's not the barn, I'll host it at my house and hopefully eventuall …
