Postmodern authors also tend to celebrate chance over craft, and further employ metafiction to undermine the writer's authority. Another characteristic of postmodern literature is the questioning of distinctions between high and low culture through the use of pastiche, the combination of subjects and …

Do you know how the World is going to end? These authors do! We are a group of friends who realized that we are interested in post-apocalyptic books and as half joke decided to start a book club dedicated to it. We will be meeting once a month in a pub in Central London to chat about a pre-chosen post-apocalyptic themed book, as well as organizing movie nights and pub crawls. Also, we are an equal opportunity group and don't discriminate against those who are into dystopic lit, so if you fancy …
A publishing professional who has represented writers for years as Commissioning Editor at Amazon and Head of Writers' Services for Bloomsbury and The Writers' & Artists' Yearbook, I’ve learnt a few integral things along the way, and wanted to share that knowledge with fellow writers on the way up. So, here’s the service I’ve come up with: Creative Writing Camp Regular marathon writing sessions [Bootcamp] with all the energy of writing in company but without the group drama or competing …
This is a group for any new generation writer interested in getting published. All genres are welcome. We started this group to meet other writers and to find creative ways of overcoming challenges that face many of today's writers. I think it's about time that Wimbledon Village had its own book club. What I have in mind is a group that comes together to discuss books, probably mostly fiction but with a little other stuff thrown into the mix and meeting over coffee, or food, or drinks in a local cafe, restaurant or bar. There may be the occasional 'other event' like a 'meet the author' or a theatre trip, but with books and friendly discussion at the core. At great way to make new friends or cement friendships too. If you'd …

We are a group dedicated to ascending peaks and enjoying panoramic views. We organise hikes in the hills around the country and abroad - occasionally going away on several days hiking trips. For each day's hike we generally aim to achieve at least 1000ft in total accent and at least 12 miles distance. In the modest peaks in the south east this will mean linking several hills together which will sometimes lead to lengthier walks. On trips to the national parks we will endeavour to choose challeng …
We're slowly making our way through the Guardian's list of 1000 novels everyone must read, which covers novels about love, crime, comedy, family and self, state of the nation, science fiction and fantasy, and war and travel. We work our way through the categories each month, and invite members to nominate books from the list. Once nominations have been received, all members vote for their choice. The book club is for people living in and around Chiswick, as well as those who don't mind travelli …

Lesbians of all ages are wonderful ... aren't we?! But sometimes we have to accept that some of us are getting on a bit, and want to relax with our feet up in cosy slippers and have a nice cup of tea while we draw our pensions ... NOT!! This group is for lesbians of over 45-ish who don't want to slide into life's autumnal background ... but nevertheless wouldn't be comfortable if all of our social lives consisted of clubbing-type activities. It is for women who enjoy socialising from time to tim …

This is an opportunity for London writers (novelists, poets, Orwellian journalists) to get together in conducive surroundings to have a drink and to discuss plots, characters, literary techniques, writing styles and methods, and to discuss the styles and writings of novelists we love. As members get to know each other, if they want to share drafts or excerpts of what they're writing that would be great too - hence the title draft soc. With a relaxed setting and a friendly group of people I'm hop …
