Postmodern authors also tend to celebrate chance over craft, and further employ metafiction to undermine the writer's authority. Another characteristic of postmodern literature is the questioning of distinctions between high and low culture through the use of pastiche, the combination of subjects and …

… in the knowledge that the story is going to be presented and digested in chunks that our short-term memories can pleasurably and comfortably hold. c) MORE "ALIVE" AND MINDFUL DISCUSSION: Good literature is often especially porous and responds differently to the circumstantial set-up of each reading. There’s something very exciting and galvanizing we find, about discussing a story that has just finished chiming in your ears, as opposed to one you read last week on the 114 bus, massively distracte …

My aim is to make meetups fun, stimulating and mind expanding. For people who want to enjoy culture without being pretentious :)

The Science Fiction Book Club meets in central London on the second and fourth Mondays of the month and is open to both men & women who enjoy discussing the themes and issues found in Science Fiction Novels. We also hope to have one or two 'veterans' who have been through and survived the process and can provide tips on tools and techniques. Oh - and we plan to meet up for a few drinks every fortnight or so.
